FOOD RESOURCES IN EDDY COUNTY

CARLSBAD/LOVING

Jonah’s House Food Pantry is open Mon-Fri from 9:00 to 11:00 am. It is located at 512 W. Stevens Street. The phone number is 575.887.5904. Please bring Social Security cards for everyone in the household. You are eligible for items once a month.
 
Calvary Assembly of God located at 2107 W. Church (next to the Stop N Shop) serves hot meals to anyone in need on Monday evenings at 6:00 pm. Food Distribution on the 3rd Saturday of every month at noon. Please bring your  ID and a container to carry your food home in.
 
Abundant Harvest (Oasis Christian Church) is located at 802 S. Main Street. Phone number is 575.887.1212. Food distributions on Tuesdays from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Bring your ID and a container to take your food home in.
 
Faith Hope & Love, located across the street from Denton Wood Funeral Home at 933 N. Canal Street has ready to eat meals and pantry staples. Operating under shortened hours, Monday-Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 am. By appointment only. Call 575.941.2022 for more information.
 
Loving Municipal Schools: Will offer grab-and-go packaged meals for all students during the school closure. Meals can be picked up at the Loving High School cafeteria March 16-19, March 23-26 and March 30-April 2. Breakfast: 8:00-9:00 am. Lunch: 11:00 am to 12 noon.
 
Carlsbad Municipal Schools: Breakfast and lunch meals will be provided together from 9:00-10:30 am for pick up each week day during the mandatory school closure, at the following sites: Hillcrest Elementary, 215 N. 6th Street; Carlsbad High School, 3000 W. Church; Carlsbad Intermediate School, 800 W. Church; Desert Willow Elementary, 2100 Primrose; Carlsbad Sixth Grade Academy, 301 Alta Vista Street.  If no children are present, no more than 4 meals will be provided to a car.
 
Packs for Hunger, will continue to provide food on the weekends for children already enrolled in the program. You may call Central Office and ask for the Low Income Director or your school counselor for more information, or to see about enrolling your child in this program.
 
SECAC Senior Meal Site, CARLSBAD: 915 San Jose Blvd., 575.887.3939; ARTESIA: 1313 Gilchrist, 575.746.6712. Congregate meal site has been closed per the Governor’s Office. Homebound seniors will still get meals delivered. All others that are able to drive, SECAC will set up a drive thru meal pick up. 
 
NM Aging & Long-Term Services Department: If you are a senior or disabled adult and cannot access groceries, please call 1-800-432-2080 and leave a message with your name, phone number and city/town you reside in. You will be contacted within 2 hours of your call, if not sooner.
 
ARTESIA
St Vincent De Paul Food Bank, 603 Roselawn, 575.748.8824. Open Monday – Friday 8:00 – 5:00.
 
Trinity Assembly of God, 1507 W. Hermosa, 575.748.3389. Every first and third Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 am.
 
Loaves and Fishes, Comm FP, 120 E. Argyle. Serving Hagerman, Lake Arthur and Dexter. 575.626.1778. The next distribution will be on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 pm. It will be a drive up distribution. Please bring proof of your physical address/zip code.
 
Packs of Love, To end Childhood hunger, @PacksofLoveArtesia. 575.703.8130. Next distribution will be Thursday, March 19, 2020 in conjunction with the schools breakfast/lunch distribution.
 
Artesia Emergency Relief, 103 N. 6th Street, (75.746.9475. Provides food, pays utilities and rent for persons in distressed situations to temporarily relieve poverty until governmental assistance is obtained.
 
Artesia Public Schools: During the mandatory school closure, any student of the Artesia Public Schools may go to any school from 7:30-8:30 for a grab-and-go breakfast, and from 11:00-12:00 for a grab-and-go lunch. There will be no charge to any student. Meals will be served from March 16-20 and March 30-April 3. Meals will not be available during the regularly scheduled Spring Break, March 23-27.
 

UTILITY RESOURCES IN EDDY COUNTY

United Way of Eddy County has resources available to assist you with your Utility Bills   

To support a contactless transaction in support of the COVID-19 restrictions, we are requesting that applications be submitted electronically.  Details are outlined below.

CARLSBAD/LOVING - Water Utility Assistance - This program is for South Eddy County Residents.  We can assist you with your water utility bill for the City of Carlsbad, Village of Loving, and Community of Otis .  If you live in South Eddy County, but do not utlize one of the above mentioned providers, please contact our office by dialing 211 from any phone in Eddy County.  You may also call 575-887-3504.   

If you meet eligibility requirements, an amount of up to $120 will be paid directly to your water utility company.  Your balance MUST be at or below $120 and we will not pay any disconnect fees. No cash is disbursed.   Eligibility for this program is on a rolliing calendar year.

Please complete the attached form and email your completed application and additional supporting documents to:  211@uweddyco.org or mail it to:  United Way of Eddy County PO Drawer EE Carlsbad, NM  88221.  Your application must contain all the required documents.  You will receive an email or phone call within 24 business hours. This program is funded from locally raised money in South Eddy County. 

ALL EDDY COUNTY - NM Gas Utility Assistance -  This program is for any resident in the State of NM.  We can assist you with your NM Gas Bill. 

Please complete the attached form and email your completed application and form to:  211@uweddyco.org or mail it to:  United Way of Eddy County PO Drawer EE Carlsbad, NM  88221.  Your application must contain all the required documents.  You will receive an email or phone call within 24 business hours.  This program is funded and overseen from the Salvation Army.  

If you meet eligibility requirements, an amount of up to $120 will be deposited into your gas company account. Assistance available ONE TIME per year, beginning in January, until monies run out.

ALL EDDY COUNTY - XCEL ENERGY - TThis program is for any resident in the State of NM.  Please follow the below steps to receive assistance with your XCEL Energy Bill. 

  • Apply for LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) online at the state website (hsd.state.nm.us/isd/liheap.htm) or at the Income Support office, located at 3604 San Jose Blvd. This assistance is available to you ONE TIME per year. Eligibility is based on income guidelines.
  • Faith Hope & Love may be able to help you out if your are ineligible for the above program. They are located at 933 N. Canal (575.941.2022. ). Please call them directly to schedule an appointment.  No walk ins.
